The Green Flag Program is a voluntary vessel speed reduction initiative by the Port of Long Beach, encouraging shipping companies to reduce speeds within 20 nautical miles of the port. This helps to lower emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), diesel particulate matter (PM), and greenhouse gases (GHG), improving air quality for surrounding communities.
