TS Lines unveils an order for up to four 1,900 teu ships
Hong Kong-based TS Lines (TSL) has ordered two 'Bangkokmax' containerships of 1,900 teu at the CSSC-controlled Guangzhou Huangpu Shipyard, China, for a price of USD 22.8 M per unit, with options for a further two ships. The first two ships are planned for delivery in Q3 and Q4 2022. The four ships are aimed at TSL own services in East Asia.
These gearless vessels will be wide beam
units of an Loa of 172 m for a breadth of 27.50 m and will be fitted with SOx
scrubbers for IMO 2020 compliance.
TS Lines currently operates 44 ships of 800 to 5,600 teu aggregating 98,000 teu, of which 14 units of are owned. Eight of the owned ships are fitted with SOX scrubbers with two more to be retrofitted by next February. Its newbuilding pipe line also includes two ships of 2,700 teu. The newbuildings will allow TS Lines to own half of the ships it deploys, reducing substantially its reliance on the charter market.
